A simple reminder

August 11th, 2008

Many of us choose to carry some sort of self defense product to protect ourselves or our family.

Awesome!

But keep in mind, that if you cannot access this product easily and very, very quickly it will be of no use to you at all!

I say this because a friend of mine has a pepper spray that I gave to her since she takes classes at night and has to walk through the dark parking lot alone to get to her car which is often parked quite far from the building.  When we met up the other day, I noticed her pepper spray was in her backpack.  I asked if that’s where she always kept it.  She said yes.

Well, I proceeded to lecture her on the fact that her “would-be” attacker is most likely NOT going to simply wait quiety for her to remove her backpack, unzip the zipper, dig around for her pepper spray, flip the top, aim and shoot.

When I stopped my tirade, and my friend’s jaw snapped shut, she agreed that from now, she would actually carry her pepper spray in her hand until she was safely locked in her car.

My point is, have your self defense product at hand to protect yourself and your loved ones.

My new toy

June 23rd, 2008

I’m so excited because I just got my new Hot Shot Mini Stun Gun.  It is so tiny.  I love it!  It really is very discreet at only 3 Inches long.  It truly fits in the palm of my hand.  But it packs a wallop (I LOVE that word) at 975,000 Volts!

Don’t get me wrong.  I’m excited to have it but I hope I never have to use it!

There are a lot of choices in Stun Guns out there.  I already own a Cell Phone Stun Gun.  This mini probably won’t be my last.  But it’s my new toy.  For now.

The “Naked” Truth

June 17th, 2008

It’s been reported that on June 6, 2008, a naked man was spotted standing in the middle of an Alabama Highway.  The police were called and, when the man, refused to cooperate with their commands, he was shot with a Stun Gun and placed in handcuffs.

The thirty year old man said that he was George Bush AND Jesus Christ and that he could break the cuffs.  (Which he didn’t btw)

He was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Hidden Spy Cameras

June 6th, 2008

Last time I wrote about the “need” for Security Surveillance Cameras.  Usually, but not always, these are obviously placed Systems.   Hopefully, the criminal will be deterred from acting just by their presence.

There are many other situations in which you don’t want someone to know they are being watched.  Perhaps at home, you want to see exactly what the babysitter does while they are alone with your children.  A Hidden Nanny Cam could be inconspicuously set up so you can play back the tape later (or watch it simultaneously in the other room) so you can see to the safety of your kids.

Perhaps you are worried about your teenager skipping school or a cheating spouse?  Hidden Spy Cameras can solve the mystery.

At the office, you may be concerned about theft, laziness or employees using work time for personal phone calls or email.  A Surveillance Camera here could save you money or even save your business.

Obviously, Hidden or Spy Cams shouldn’t be used in such a way as to impose on personal privacy but they are definitely a plus when it comes to protecting your family, home or business.

Big Brother is Watching

May 30th, 2008

Chances are in your every day life, you are captured on a Security Camera - probably several times per day.  After all, they are seen in all major retail stores, banks, government offices, restaurants and the list goes on.  Surveillance Cameras are also there, but not seen (ie-hidden) in many other public and private establishments.

It’s also quite possible your neighbors have Security Cameras inside and outside their homes.  Unfortunately,  ’petty crimes’ (that’s an oxymoron if you ask me) occur in even the best of neighborhoods.  And the presence of a Camera for Security may even deter the thief to begin with.

We’ve all seen the (many) news stories of criminals being caught ‘red-handed’ due to the footage seen from a nearby Surveillance Camera.

So, is Big Brother watching?  Yup.  And I, for one, am glad.

It’s almost Summer!

May 20th, 2008

I admit, I’m a freak.  I LOVE summer.  Not that unusual for some of you but I live in Hot!  Arizona.  Still, it’s my favorite season.

Maybe it’s all the years of school when you just cannot wait for summer vacation that makes this such a great memory for me.

When we were in high school, my mom had a pool put in at our house. Perfect! It kept us cool, occupied and in shape.  Of course, I think my mom’s intent was to keep us safe at home.  Well, it worked, as we didn’t often leave our backyard for other (and more expensive) things to do.  It was more fun to have our friends come to our house!

I like this idea, especially in the more unsafe world we live in today.  I know that we are definitely planning on putting in a pool for our boys in a couple of years.  It will be great for family activities and memories and will keep them safe and sound at home.

Mother’s Day

May 11th, 2008

My boys are 2 1/2 now and it’s a great age! They are learning new things every single day and they amaze me constantly.  They interact with us as parents and with each other a lot more now-not always in a good way.  :)

Being a Mother to me is the most profound and wonderful event in my everchanging life.

As parents, we all want to protect our children and keep them safe from harm.  Of course, that’s not always reality.  Getting hurt, in body and heart, are part of growing up.  And our jobs as parents are to teach our children to grow into responsible and kind adults at which time they’ll be able to take care of themselves.

For today though, as I watch them playing together, this Mother’s Day my gift is knowing that my children are truly healthy, happy, safe and secure at home with me right now.

Spring is in the Air

May 2nd, 2008

For most of the U.S. Spring is in the Air with temperatures finally warming up.  If you live in the southwest, like I do, it’s been hot for quite awhile already.

With warm sunny weather comes the opportunity for lots of great outdoor activities.  Here, in Phoenix, Arizona that means hiking, jogging, biking and camping before it gets too hot.  Of course, you “should” always try to have a friend with you while you’re enjoying nature.  After all, there’s safety in numbers.

But, let’s face it, with everyone’s busy schedules, that’s not always possible.  It really is our right and responsibility to take care of ourselves and our family so make sure you always have some sort of Self Defense Products with you: Pepper Spray, Personal Alarm or even a Stun Gun or Taser

Having  Safety and Security Products with you allow you to enjoy the beauty and Peace of nature with Peace of Mind.

Trainer Killed by Bear

April 23rd, 2008

If you’ve been following the news, you may know that on April 22, 2008 a 39-year old animal trainer, Stephan Miller, was killed by a 700 #, 7 1/2 foot tall Grizzly Bear.  The Bear had recently appeared in a Will Ferrell movie and was described as a “loving, affectionate, friendly, safe bear.”  Apparently, it was during a friendly wrestling play, the bear licked the man’s face & then suddenly bit him on the neck.  Mr. Miller sadly, died at the scene.

The bear, named Rocky, was subdued and contained with Pepper Spray and, fortunately, there were no other injuries.  As of this writing, the fate of Rocky had not been decided.

We have some land in the pines that we’ll build a cabin on someday. And I know that there have been some bear sightings in the area. In fact, I heard that a neighbor’s 16 year old dog had been carried away by a bear recently.  I can’t imagine the fear I would feel coming face-to-face (so to speak) with a bear of any size!

If you love the Great Outdoors and are a hiker, camper or hunter, I encourage you to carry Pepper Spray (at the least) and Bear Pepper Spray (even better) to help protect you & your family & pets.
